Membership
Membership in the church is for youth and adults.
For youth, we offer confirmation classes for those in Middle School or High School. The pastor coordinates this using age-appropriate curriculum to teach the youth about church history, church government, local church practices, Bible overview, and how to live your faith in Jesus Christ.
For adults, the pastor will either lead a membership class or meet with individuals to review the same type of material as the confirmation class.
To become a member of the church, an individual must be baptized, receive instruction, and be approved by the Session.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Colossians 3:15
Funerals
In the Presbyterian Church, we refer to a Funeral or Memorial Service as a Service of Witness to the Resurrection. The Service of Witness to the Resurrection for a member may be held in the Sanctuary. In ambiance, architecture and association, the church joins the major events of the life of faith: baptism, public confession of faith, the Lord’s Supper, perhaps marriage, and certainly the promise of resurrection. Thus it is appropriate for services to be held in the church and at its direction. The pastor may also perform the service at a funeral home or graveside.
It is the intention that the service be personal, keeping in mind that the purpose of the service is to praise and thank God for the knowledge that in life, as in death, we are in God’s hands. The pastor plans the service alongside the close family of the deceased, using the PCUSA Book of Common Worship as a guide. The family should contact the pastor as soon as possible to begin coordinating the service and other details with the family and funeral home. Members of the church may have a funeral meal at the church. The pastor will notify the appropriate people to plan the meal.
Please contact the pastor for information or to request a funeral service.
