Children's Church

About children's church

Children’s church is every Sunday, except when it is Brunch Church or Communion Sunday. It is for children and older preschoolers.

The children head downstairs after the Children’s story in worship and have a lesson planned just for them. They are given a light snack and are led by loving volunteers from the Congregation.

Sundays when there is no children's church

When it is Brunch Church, everyone heads downstairs to enjoy a relaxed service together – with plenty of food!

When it is Communion Sunday, the children can pick up a bulletin from the back of the Sanctuary with activities for them to work on during the service.

Compassion Camp

Compassion Camp is an updated version of VBS (Vacation Bible School) for children that focuses on teaching participants to develop compassion for others and care for creation. The program takes place in the summer and the stations are Music, Yoga, Bible, Snack, Games and Crafts.

The theme for this year is:  What Every Living Thing Needs.

Compassion Camp is a program where participants explore what is means to have compassion for themselves, others, and the world.

As we look around the world, our deep need for compassion becomes increasingly evident with each passing day, perhaps now more than ever. Using each Compassion Camp component, we’ll explore themes of compassion as they relate to each session’s scripture.

Through Compassion Camp: What Every Living Thing Needs, participants will explore what all living things need to live – shelter, food, water, air, and community – and how they can have compassion for the living earth, especially in their local ecosystems. Through awareness, gratitude, wonderment, reciprocity, and kinship, participants will consider how to become co-sustainers and participants in the work of God’s creation. We will use Psalm 104 as their grounding text along with additional supporting scripture.

Gathering & Music – introduces theme for the day

Bible Story – child-friendly paraphrases of the scripture accessible for all ages, highlighting and celebrating the Bible’s focus on creation’s flourishing. A focus on poetry will strengthen the bond of the more-than-human world. For preschoolers, we include a Bible story booklet and a coloring page with imagining and wondering questions to connect more deeply with the story.

Create & Play – a fun mix of crafts and activities throughout all five sessions to practice our compassion skills and have fun together.

Movement – physical engagement to connect our minds, bodies, and spirits with God. We will focus on breathing alongside basic yoga poses, connecting Compassion Camp’s main themes with our lives.

Recreation – Cooperative games that get participants’ bodies and minds moving and reinforce Compassion Camp’s themes and takeaways.

Compassion in Action – these activities help participants think creatively about sharing their compassion and love. These small, simple, and tangible acts help us express God’s deep compassion for each other, ourselves, and the world.

Messy Church

What is Messy Church?

This is an intergenerational program, where all ages will meet together to learn about Christ, through games, crafts,
activities, music and storytelling from the Bible.

Church volunteers are needed to run activities and the Pastor will lead the worship.

Who is it for?

Everyone – all ages!

When is it?

The 1st Wednesday of each month in the evening.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
